Traditions
One of my favorite traditions started on my son’s first Christmas. I purchased his first ornament. I have stayed faithful to that tradition and purchased him a special Christmas ornament every year. They are stored all together in a box so that when he puts up his first tree, he’ll have a lot of special memories to fill it. I look at it as it will be a tree of love. Yes I’m emotional as this will be his first Christmas out of the house. He is 21 yrs old and a Marine this year. I was shopping last Friday at TJ Maxx and found the perfect ornament for him this year. He LOVED choc-choc milk growing up and we always had Hershey syrup in the house.

Anyone else have traditions they would like to share? I sure would love to hear about them.

Awww that is so sweet! We do that, too.

We buy the kids new jammies every year for Christmas, and they open them on Christmas Eve.

Aww, Tammy. That ornament is adorable. I bet he'll love that one. We started doing the ornament for each child when they were little but that tapered off and now, each year, I go to a craft fair here in town and I pick out a special dough ornament and have it personalized with everyone's name on it and the year. Those ornaments are the first to go on the tree each year.

We also allow the kids to open one gift on Christmas eve and it's always a new pair of pajama's. LOL! My mom started this with my sister and I when we were little and we thought it was great! We now realize that there was an ulterior motive. LOL! You can be sure that the kids aren't dressed in their rattiest PJ's for Christmas morning pictures. LOL

Oh I love it!! Keep the tradition stories coming. I have included another of my own:

Each time we go to the beach it is tradition for everyone to buy one of those shell souvenir type necklaces and wear them the whole time we are there. We call them our good luck vacation charms.

Not throwing a pity party because I know everyone experiences life’s roller coaster, but wanted to share this. This past year has been “trying” with several deaths and our only son leaving to join the Marines. The thought came to me the other day why should we wear our beach necklaces only on vacation….why not wear them to bring “good luck” here at home. Off I go and put mine on. Needless to say my outlook on life has been more positive and I even rescued a tiny kitten from the middle of a busy parking lot yesterday. Whether it is karma or just all in my head I am enjoying this little tradition of ours in a new way and the kitten is a beach necklace good luck believer. LOL :^O
