Hi!
This is my first time blogging so bear with me. I guess I will just start with my realization this past year that I had to get out of my pajamas, jeans and tee shirts.
I fell ill in February 1995. I was a comptroller and office manager for a commercial real estate office. I had so many outfits and was up with the latest fashion styles. My life came to a crashing halt in September 1995 when I became permanently disabled with a chronic pain disease in the fall of 1995.
Away went all of my many stylish business clothes and out came the pajamas. If I had a doctor’s appointment, I would just wear a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. This went on for many years, until the spring of 2007.
Many treatments and the proper medications gave me the ability to get back out into the business world, on a limited basis, after twelve years.
My wake up call came when I had to attend my first 3-day seminar for my Property & Casualty Insurance license. I needed more than jeans and had absolutely nothing to wear.
I started out with some of the basics. Black dress pants, camisoles, dress blouses and a few colorful shirts.
I have now passed both my Property & Casualty and Life Insurance licenses. My new dilemma is what to wear to the office two to three times a week.
Things sure have changed in the past thirteen years. When I used to work my 80-hour weeks, I was dressed to the hilt. Pants were prohibited in my old office; panty hose were a necessity, along with high heel shoes.
I work for my father’s Insurance Agency and I work with an office full of men. I have no women in the office to emulate.
I am slowly building my wardrobe but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for some key wardrobe essentials and building my summer wardrobe from there?
