This One Is For Annie!

ChakaKhan.jpg (102.1 K)
I found this picture the other day and immediately thought about Annie’s blog. I hope you see my blog entry, Annie. :)

I could not post this picture in Annie's blog, so I had to post it in my own.

Check out this picture of ChakaKhan. I think this is the worst one yet.

I don’t even know what to say! She reminds me of a purple grape. LOL

Pinch Bottom Jeans
I had a GREAT laugh the other day at my daughter's expense. I thought I would share with everyone.

Years ago when the high-waisted, skinny-legged jeans were in, she would always tease me. She was very young at the time and it was then I realized she had a great fashion sense about her. She called my jeans 'pinch-bottoms'.

I can remember purchasing a pair for her back when I would shop for clothes for my girls, without them being with me. She looked at a pair of jeans I had bought for her and stated, "I am not wearing a pair of 'pinch-bottoms' like you wear."

I was utterly shocked. I never realized that I was so out of touch with the fashion world. I had been wearing the same 'mom-jeans' for years. She told me she wanted bell-bottoms or nothing.

My daughter is now almost sixteen and she came out of her room the other day, wearing a pair of skinny-legged jeans. I exclaimed, "You are wearing 'pinch-bottoms' jeans" and could not stop laughing.

My daughter went into some song and dance and started telling me why they were so different from the ones I wore years ago. I really cannot see the difference between the two, but I will give her the benefit of the doubt.

I still have not seen her wear her new purchase. I think she is afraid I am going to be laughing at her every time she walks by me. Would I do that? ;)

Getting Out of Pajamas, Jeans & Tee Shirts and Back into the Business World
Hi!

This is my first time blogging so bear with me. I guess I will just start with my realization this past year that I had to get out of my pajamas, jeans and tee shirts.

I fell ill in February 1995. I was a comptroller and office manager for a commercial real estate office. I had so many outfits and was up with the latest fashion styles. My life came to a crashing halt in September 1995 when I became permanently disabled with a chronic pain disease in the fall of 1995.

Away went all of my many stylish business clothes and out came the pajamas. If I had a doctor’s appointment, I would just wear a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. This went on for many years, until the spring of 2007.

Many treatments and the proper medications gave me the ability to get back out into the business world, on a limited basis, after twelve years.

My wake up call came when I had to attend my first 3-day seminar for my Property & Casualty Insurance license. I needed more than jeans and had absolutely nothing to wear.

I started out with some of the basics. Black dress pants, camisoles, dress blouses and a few colorful shirts.

I have now passed both my Property & Casualty and Life Insurance licenses. My new dilemma is what to wear to the office two to three times a week.

Things sure have changed in the past thirteen years. When I used to work my 80-hour weeks, I was dressed to the hilt. Pants were prohibited in my old office; panty hose were a necessity, along with high heel shoes.

I work for my father’s Insurance Agency and I work with an office full of men. I have no women in the office to emulate.

I am slowly building my wardrobe but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for some key wardrobe essentials and building my summer wardrobe from there?
